Happy New Year

Hi, I'm Michelle L Y.

Happy New Year fellow warriors!! I have stage 3b colon cancer and will be doing round 5 of 12 tomorrow. I have had trouble with my WBC count and horrible side effects from the Oxyilpitain (no idea of spelling) so much so my doctor removed it from my regiment. I feel good and other than the days I’m hooked up to the pump I feel great for the most part. I do have an ileostomy which I hate beyond imitation but it will be reversed after chemo finishes in April. I’m thankful for the chemo center as they have been outstanding and feel it’s family there. Never so happy to see a new year come. 2016 will be my year! May you all be blessed and may we find a cure for this disease!!

I'm Captbo, and I'm a survivor of Stage 4 Colon Cancer

I only had four rounds of Oxaliplatin before my oncologist took me off that. I lost feeling in my fingers and lost my fingerprints. My wife said I was now qualified for a life of crime. That was 18 months ago. I’ve since regained feeling in my fingers, but not the fingerprints.
Are you receiving Zeloda with the pump? My oncologist recommended taking Zeloda (actually the generic capecitabine) via pills rather than the pump. Many oncologists prefer the pump because they don’t trust the patient to take the pills as scheduled, but the pills give you a more consistent dose of the drug.
For the past 5 months I’ve been on a different routine consisting of Erbitux (Cetuximab) and Irinotecan. I’ve lost my hair so my wife now calls me Golam.
